Source of Quarrels
Here is the source of arguments, quarrels, or disunity according to James and Paul.
What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members? You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. James 4:1-3
But refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that they produce quarrels. 2 Timothy 2:23
Genesis 4 records the very first quarrel. The quarrelling parties are brothers and the dispute ends in the death of one and God's curse upon the other. The similarity between James 4:1-3, 2 Timothy 2:23, and Genesis 4:6-7 is explained in Genesis 6:5 which states that the thoughts of man's heart was only upon evil continually.
No one can argue THAT something is written in the Bible because there are too many Bibles around the world. We simply look it up and the argument is resolved.

However, every interpretation of what is written can be argued and it often is simply because interpretations are opinions about what is written not an actual quote or restatement. Until the opinion is backed by two or three written witnesses found in the Bible each saying the exact same thing and without contradicting any other Holy words of God, that opinion remains man's opinion and nothing more than eloquent or persuasive speech that tickles ears.
