During my morning Bible reading, I came across this verse:   " I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not cure him." Matthew 17:16 (NASB) Apparently, the disciples whom Jesus gave power and authority to cast out demons and heal the sick in Matthew 10 ; 1  were struggling to continue to do so later on in Matthew 17:16 , but, why? I know that most Bible scholars teach that Jesus rebuked the "demon" and therefore the demon came out of the boy. But, what if they are wrong and God actually rebuked the boy for the sin that gave the demons a foothold. Repentance would have destroyed the foothold and required the demons to vacate the premises. This certainly is not the most popular interpretation of the pronouns used in this passage, but popularity does not equal validity. A number of years ago, I had the privilege of having the experience of witnessing what happens when a person hears angels worshiping God. A group of approximately 15 of us were asked by a gentlemen in the group to pray for his daughter who was not present. She was in the middle of desperate circumstances that were about to come down upon her in a terrible way. We asked the dad to sit in the middle of our circle. We all gathered around him on her behalf so we could pray with the laying on of hands as described in the Bible. Because, I did not know the details nor did I know this family well, I took the stance to simply sing in tongues as soft as I could so I would not distract the others actually praying in our common tongue. After some time of intense prayer by all of us, the dad suddenly raised his head to heaven. Looking up he said, "I hear angels!" Speaking to the religious leaders of His day, Jesus said, John 5:45-47 45 "Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; the one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have set your hope. 46 "For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me. 47 "But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?" Even thought Moses and the Queen of the South lived many years before Jesus was born, they could judge and condemn the religious leaders of Jesus day, Matthew 12:42 ; Luke 11:31 . This was because Moses and the Queen of the South heard the testimony of lesser prophets and believed that testimony about the promised Messiah. Jesus' testimony was the greatest testimony of the Father because it was a three-in-one testimony, 1 John 5:5-6 . Yet, the religious leaders in Jesus' day became arrogant by knowledge, 1 Corinthians 8:1 . Therefore, they were guilty of searching the scriptures to gain eternal life...
