Saying the Same Thing
Winds of doctrine, assumptions, interpretations, traditions, all can be very wrong even though they sound logical and good. But, they will destroy the unity of the Spirit. Unity does not occur when assumptions, opinions or interpretations are given precedence over the actual keys Jesus gave His disciples for the purpose of ruling the world the way He did, Matthew 13:11 16:19.
Paul had to deal with the same problem in 1 Corinthians 1:12, 3:4. Mere men were differentiating truth by the teachings of other mere men instead of by the word of God made flesh. It is no wander that the apostle Paul defined unity in the Spirit here:
Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment. 1 Corinthians 1:10
Agreement here is defined as "no divisions" which is accomplished by the indwelling of truth. Jesus defined the process of the indwelling of truth as abiding in His words, John 8:31-32, and He set the example of abiding by speaking only the words the Father gave Him to speak, John 12:49.
There is only ONE spirit of God, ONE God and ONE Truth. We must say the same thing the Holy Spirit says or there will be no unity in the spirit and we will continue to argue doctrine right up to the day the ark is shut and we are left out in the rain.
